Technical Group Meeting for Ending Child Marriage through
Multi-Sectoral Approaches in Punjab

Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and Democratic Commission for Human Development (DCHD) jointly organized a consultative meeting to explore options for Ending Child Marriages through Multi-sectoral Approaches in Punjab; on March 2nd, at Hospitality Inn, Lahore.

Participants of the meeting were unanimous that Child Marriages is the blatant violation of human rights and agreed to form a technical group, which will address the issue of child marriage through adopting multi-sectoral approach combining health, rights, protection, education, skills/livelihoods and social protection.

Launch of Child Marriage Free Zone - Initiative in Pakistan and The End Child Marriages Portal
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) successfully launched the initiative of Child Marriage Free Zone in Pakistan and The End Child Marriages Portal at Islamabad Hotel (Holiday Inn) in Islamabad on 6th January 2015. This initiative will be taken forward in collaboration with A World At School (AWAS), Global Business Coalition (GBC), HANDS and collaborating partners

Recent Legislative Development on Child Marriages in Punjab
CAN Pakistan arranged an Orientation session with Young Girls to sensitize them about “Recent Legislative Development on Child Marriages in Punjab” and to engage them in the process of influencing Policy Makers & Legislatures to increase the age of Marriage for Girls from 16 to 18 Years.
