ITA Public Trust hosted a Video Conference on review and reflection on a professional development program for Pakistani educators funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, from 2004 to 2008. The implementation of this program is a collaboration between Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi and Pakistani Educational Leadership Institute (PELI) at the Plymouth State University (PSU), NH , USA.

Since 2004, five Pakistani Educational Leadership Institutes (PELI) have been organized. To date 100 alumni have completed a 3-4 week program at Plymouth State University, New Hampshire. They represent Azad Jammu Kashmir, Balochistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the North West Frontier Province, Punjab, Sindh and ICTs ( Islamabad Capital territories).

The online experience in real time gave all the stakeholders an opportunity to discuss the strengths, lessons learnt, share best practices of the program and exchange on future trends and themes for such a program across the Pakistani alumni, counterpart organizations and PSU team in USA.   

The video conference is looked as a synchronous learning and exchange experience and a virtual communication corridor across multiple audiences simultaneously. The conference was truly an exciting experience as it gave everyone present a wonderful opportunity for a collective discussion on different aspects of this vibrant professional development program. The participants exchanged ideas and knowledge on post PELI experience and the alumni experience as change enablers in their environment. Professional challenges and possibilities and future professional directions for the Pakistani Institutes were part of this dialogue too.

All together 35 participants took part in this animated dialogue.

Some of the pioneer members of this program like Dr. Haroona Jatoi, DG AEPAM, Academy for Educational Planning and Management, MoE, Ministry of Education, senior representatives from USEF, United States Education Foundation, OXFAM, UK, Mr. Iqbal Jatoi, Country Director, Right to Play  were also present  and appreciated the remarkable work of PSU alumni in Pakistan.
