World Children’s Day: ITA Celebrates 30 years of CRC  
 
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) celebrated World Children’s Day on November 20, 2019 in Lahore with the collaboration of Children’s Library Complex (CLC) and in Islamabad with Child Rights Movement. The 30 years celebrations of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) were a reminder to all duty bearers to extend survival, development, protection and participation rights to all children (0-18 years) without discrimination. ITA held a special event in CLC, Lahore where children asked the special guests to make pledges to secure their rights as premised in the CRC.
 
Children's Literature Festival - Iqbal Day Celebrations  
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi The Children’s Literature Festival (CLF) celebrated Iqbal Day at Lahore Fort with Kitab Gari promoting the love for reading, writing, poetry and creativity. CLF Goodwill Ambassador, actor Sami Khan joianed the Iqbal Day celebrations and held a storytelling session with the students.
 
CLF Kitab Gari at Faiz Festival 2019  
CLF participated in the Faiz International Festival 2019 along with its Kitab Gari. CLF Advisor Mahtab Akbar Rashdi and CLF Goodwill Ambassador Omair Rana joined ITA for various activities at Faiz Festival held at Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore. They held a story telling session and interacted with children of different age. The children were delighted to find Cinema Ghar, Arts & Crafts and story books in CLF Kitab Gari. Everyone was sthrilled as children recited beautiful poetry by Faiz Ahmad Faiz and sang in chorus.

CLF Peshawar  
The 63rd CLF will be held in Peshawar on December 10-11, 2019 at Nishtar Hall and Peshawar Museum. ITA has collaborated with KP Tourism Corporation and Elementary & Secondary Education Department for CLF Peshawar. CLF is a non-ticketed open for all event targeting children aged 3 to 18.

ASER Pakistan - ASER 2019  
The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) is the largest citizen-led, household based initiative that aims to provide reliable estimates on the schooling status of children aged 3-16 years residing in rural and urban districts of Pakistan. ASER Pakistan, led by ITA, is working to release the latest stats on school education in Pakistan. Data collection, data checking and data entry for ASER 2019 is underway as ASER Pakistan hopes to achieve well-grounded results on the schooling status of children. Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi
 
PAL Network Conference 2019  
The People’s Action for Learning (PAL) Network held a conference in Kathmandu, Nepal on November 5-6, 2019 to explore known data gaps and under-researched equity and inclusion issues for invisible and vulnerable populations across the Global South. ASER Pakistan and Siyani Sahelian teams from ITA participated in the two-day conference. The conference brought together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society actors, catalyzing learning, sharing and knowledge exchange.

PAL Network’s Citizen-led Assessment of Numeracy (CLAN)  
PAL Network has designed and implemented a common assessment (piloting for Numeracy) tool for the first time across its 13 member countries to boost cross-country comparison of learning levels. The Citizen-led Assessment of Numeracy (CLAN) aligns with SDG 4.1.1.a and has comparable test items and meets all minimum proficiency levels for lower primary learning. Pakistan, as a member of the Pal Network, tested the tool in Toba Tek Singh. The results of this pilot will be released in February, 2020. Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi
 
Round Table Conference on Action for Right to Education in Pakistan  
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi ITA in collaboration with United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) hosted a round table discussion on November 8, 2019 in Karachi with an aim to urge government officials to enforce education laws set forth in Article 25-A of the Pakistani Constitution. There was overwhelming consensus by over 50 parliamentarians, government officials, teachers, academics, innovators and civil society at the round table on ‘Accelerating Actions to Implement Sindh Right of Children to Free & Compulsory Education Act 2013’ that slow implementation of right to education or Article 25-A in Sindh will impact achieving the SDG4 on education and the CRC commitments.
 
Utho Bolo Project  
ITA has initiated Utho Bolo project that takes young people (aged 10-24) on a journey of self-discovery, transforming them into confident individuals. It uses the holistic approach of positive youth development, and contains activities to build young people’s social and emotional competences. The key component of the project is Journey4Life that consists of a minimum of 12 sessions delivered on daily basis in the course of three to five months. The participants are called Agent4sChange while the sessions are delivered by young people called Champions4Life who are trained in Life Skills Based Education (LSBE) content. Safe Internet and Outreach program  
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi ITA in collaboration with Telenor Pakistan is working on Safe Internet and School Outreach Program about safe usage of Internet and mobilization of safe internet usage in schools. The safe internet sessions provide an opportunity to the children to learn how to use internet safely. Safe internet sessions are held in various schools across the country.
