• On the eve of the independence day of Pakistan, hundreds of Pakistan Christians from different states of America (Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.) demonstrated outside the Embassy of Pakistan and the White House, demanding an end to violence against Minorities in Pakistan. There was also a prayer service organized by the protestors outside the Embassy.
• Dr. Masooda Bano in her article ‘Gojra Carnage’ stressed the need of a serious review of the event and developing an assessment mechanism that could help prevent eruption of these anti-Christian riots which is so frequent.
• Different denominations in Lahore held the prayer services for the martyrs of Gojra incident.
• Mr. Zahid Iqbal Somroo and Mr. Roger Francis in letters to editor in daily ‘The News’ urged to the Government that those behind the violence and deaths in Gojra should be held accountable and punished. The government must revisit the repeal of blasphemy laws.
• On August 13th, Punjab government has constituted a twelve-member committee to monitor relief and rehabilitation work in Gojra. Meanwhile, Lahore High Court Tribunal recorded statements of 55 people in the wake of Gojra incident. So far 169 people have recorded their statements.
• NCJP initiated to compile articles’ written in the Urdu print media of Pakistan.
• The Protestant Church in Netherlands wrote a solidarity letter to all the Christian Community in Pakistan, in relation to the recent attacks on Christians of Gojra.
• Another case of blasphemy registered under 295-B of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against Sufian Masih (18), of Gujranwala on August 10th.
